Eyeliner tattoo is waterproof, smudge free and low fuss. You can get eyeliner tattoo within the lash line [see image above] for beautiful, natural definition or above the lash line, with or without wings. Best of all the eyeliner will be even. No more wonky wings! You can also get the eyeliner tattoo along the lower eyelid or without.
A qualified and experienced cosmetic tattooist will provide you with a thorough consultation to discuss your suitability and the design of the eyeliner. The eyeliner shape will be drawn on with make up so you can see what the finished result will look like.
Eyeliner is mostly done with a black pigment, which is specially formulated for cosmetic tattooing and will fade after a few years. No body tattooing inks or equipment should ever be used for cosmetic tattooing.
Eyeliner tattoo is semi permanent and will last 2 to 4 years. With numbing cream the treatment is not painful. Most clients say they feel a tickling sensation at the start of the procedure.

Have you ever wondered who invented eyelash extensions and when they become fashionable? Eyelash extensions developed on from false lashes, or ‘strip lashes’. False lashes were recorded as first worn by actress Seena Owen in the film Intolerance [pictured above] in 1916 at the film’s director, D.W. Griffith’s, request. These false lashes were made by human hair by hand, woven onto gauze by a wig maker. The wig maker’s name is unknown.
False lashes were quickly adopted by many women into their make up routines and are still in favour by some today.
It may be no coincidence eyelash extensions gained popularity in Hollywood as a replacement for false lashes at the start of high-definition film and television at the beginning of the 21st century. They also suit an active lifestyle and the fashion around it which is a growing trend this century. Some one mention active wear?
Eyelash extensions are on when you get out of bed, while you are working out, swimming, showering, you name it, at any time of the day. Beauty in 2016 is about naturalness and reducing daily make up routines.
To meet these demands, lash extensions began to appear as a service in beauty salons at the same time, in the beginning of the noughties. It’s hard to find an indisputable source on when and where they were invented; however, most agree they have been around since the mid 1980’s and first appeared in Japan or Korea.
Lash Extensions in Australia
Lash salons and technicians began to emerge in Australia around 2005. There are many more today and many general service beauty salons also include this service as part of their menu. Its popularity continues to increase.
Celebrities and Eyelash Extensions
Many celebrities have been snapped wearing eyelash extensions off-screen including Julianne Moore, Angelina Jolie, Katy Perry and Gwen Stefani.
Immediately after a cosmetic tattooing procedure the area treated will look about 50% darker than the final results. This is temporary, the colour will lighten and soften over 3 to 14 days. It is normal for the area to feel slightly tender or dry. Here are some instructions and tips to follow to look after your cosmetic tattoo.
Home care instructions
Purchase a small tube of Bepanthen Cream. This is a gentle antiseptic cream which assists in the skin’s natural healing process. It will prevent infections and scabbing and will hydrate and soothe the tattooed area. Apply every few hours for the first week, then twice a day for the second week, and always after showering (do not use soap on the treated area).
Do’s and Don’ts
Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area for the first 2 weeks. Exposure to the sun over time can cause fading and may cause the colour to change. If you are going out into the sun apply sunscreen to protect the area. You can cover the area with vaseline when swimming in chlorine water to prevent bleaching.
No make-up is to be applied on the treated area at least 48 hours. This can lead to infection and the colour to change. If you do use it, use brand new make-up to minimise infection. This is especially important with mascara.
No soap or cleansers on the treated area for one day.
Don’t scrub the treated area, crusting will fall off naturally please don’t force it.
Avoid using teeth whitening tooth paste if you have had a lip tattoo. Chemicals of any kind can interfere with healing and the colour.
Skin topicals that contain acids or retinol may lighten the colour prematurely with continuous use.
Don’t sit in a heated spa, sauna or steam room 2 weeks. Steam will open pores and may make the colour bleed out.
Do not wax, pluck or bleach the hair for at least 3 weeks after the treatment. If you are having laser hair removal or resurfacing, please inform the cosmetic tattooist prior to your procedure.
Do not use prescription Retin-A or Roaccutane for at least 2 weeks prior to treatment and 4 weeks after the treatment
No fillers or anti-wrinkle injections such as Restylane or Botox on or near the treated areas 2 weeks before or after treatment
Immediately after and for next 24 hours continue to wipe the eyebrows. They will weep a clear fluid which is normal and part of the healing process. Wipe them gently to remove the fluid otherwise a crusting or scab will build up which is not what we want. As the eyebrow skin heals, the area can often form a slight crusting which will be flaking off naturally. Do not scrub off the flaking. After 5-6 days the brow tattooing will dramatically soften and lighten approximately 50%.
Apply Bepanthen Cream a minimum of three times a day for the first week. Then twice a day for the following two weeks until the skin healed and smooth. For maximum results cream must be applied every 2-3 hours for the first day and about every 4 hours for the next 5 days.
Expect the eye to be slightly tender 1-3 days. Swelling is minimal and with most clients it will subside within 24 hours. It is not necessary to apply any after care cream. If needed, apply a small amount of Bepanthen, less is better. Cold pads can be applied to minimise swelling. Do not use eye liner and mascara.
This area will take the longest to heal. The colour will be much brighter than the final colour for 7-8 days. It will then fade to no colour and re-appears after 3-6 weeks. Bepanthen Cream must be applied constantly as your lips will be very dry. Keep them moist with the Bepanthen cream and if you suffer cold sore use cold sore cream like Zovirax with the Bepanthen cream.
If it’s your first time for a spray tan or you’ve been going for some time these tips and tricks will help you get the most out of your spray tan.
What to do before your spray tan
Wax or shave at least 24 hours before your spray tan to allow your pores to close and skin to settle back down.
On the day of your spray tan you may want to exfoliate your skin, especially dry areas of your body like your elbows, knees and heels. Don’t use an oil based scrub.
What to do at your spray tan appointment
Try to come to your booking free of any moisturisers, deodorant, lotions, perfumes or sprays. They may act as a barrier and prevent your tan from adhering as much as it could. If it’s been unavoidable, let your technician know and they will give you a moistened towel to wipe yourself down.
Wear loose clothing after your appointment. Pants and a long sleeve top is best because it minimises skin to skin contact. If it’s a very hot day you may want bring a towel to lay on your car seat if you are driving to stop any bronzer from transferring onto your seat.
Let your spray tanner know how strong a tan you are after, whether you want a bronzer and when you will be able to shower. A bronzer will give you immediate colour while you are waiting for the tan to develop. Your spray tanner will select the right tan for your skin tone and based on the factors above.
You will be advised when you can shower. Black Magic tans will not leave you feeling sticky and your skin will feel the same afterwards as it did before the tan. Any bronzer that may rub off onto your clothes will wash out.
While your spray tan is developing
Your spray tanner will advise you when you can shower to get your individual desired results. This will depend on the tan’s development speed that has been selected, your colour tone and the desired depth of the tan. Your therapist will also take into consideration when you will be able to shower as some of us need to return to work afterwards!
Avoid getting wet or doing anything that will make you work up a sweat.
Your tan will take 1 to 8 hours to develop.
Showering after your spray tan
Follow your tanning technician’s instructions when you can shower. This will vary depending on the type of tan that has been applied and your desired look.
For Express and Rapid Tans lightly rinse your body for 30 seconds. Don’t use a washer or any soaps because your tan will continue to develop after you have rinsed off your bronzer.
For 8 Hour and Overnight Tans shower as normal.
You’ll see the bronzer wash off down into the shower. This is just the bronzer and your tan is still developing. Pat dry.
Maintaining your spray tan
Moisturising is your best friend. Check your soap or shampoo doesn’t contain sulphates because these can strip your tan prematurely. Swimming in chlorine can also cause your tan to fade earlier than it would normally so use Tan Lock to stop this from happening.
Your tan will last 7 to 10 days depending on aftercare. Black Magic tans will fade like a natural tan.
